Mythology to Fairy Tales
Materials Fee: $0
Supplies List: Notebook, pen/pencil, Crayons or other coloring utensils
Embark on a journey filled with classic heroes, gods, tricksters, and monsters as we venture into worlds we thought we knew. We will begin by exploring the realm of mythology and legends, learning of their importance, relevance, and influence on their respective cultures. Afterwards, we will travel to lands both familiar and new by reading fairy and folk tales that have withstood the test of time, and compare and analyze how various cultures have made the same story their own. Through hands-on and interactive activities, we will be able to nourish our understanding of symbolism, themes, motifs, and story structures. By the end of the course, students will be able to identify the deeper meanings of classics and how they’ve shaped our world today, and will even be able to create their own retelling fit for the ages!
